Home remedies for ear mites in dogs

Ear mite is a parasitic infection seen in dogs. These are very tiny eight-legged parasites that reside in the rear canal of dogs and feed on the wax produced there.They cannot be seen by the naked eye. Dogs suffering from this parasitic infection have dark debris like discharge from their ear.If itis not paid immediate attention, it can lead to severe infection. It is a contagious condition and spreads from one pet to another through close contact. It causes inflammation of the ear canal and also leads to obstruction in the ear. Mixture of garlic and olive oil

Garlic has anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties whereas olive oil has a soothing effect. Olive oil acts as a healing agent and also inhibits the growth of the mites.

Process

Take five to six garlic cloves. Crush them to form a smooth paste. Now add a tablespoon of olive oil to it. Mix it well.Have a few drops of this mixture in the ears two to three times a day to inhibit the growth and provide relief.

Honey

Honey is good on wounds and has excellent healing properties. It hampers the growth of mites and prevents it from spreading.

Process

Take a tablespoon of honey in a small container and using a cotton swab clean the affected area gently. You can also use it on wounds caused by scratching. Repeat this two to three times a day.

Aloe Vera

Well known for its healing and soothing effect, the gel of Aloe Vera can be used to treat this parasitic infection. It not only hampers the growth of parasite but also provides a healing effect to the wounds.

Process

Have a fresh leaf.You can go for a fresh aloe leaf or bottled Aloe Vera gel or cream. Cut the same and get the gel present inside. Now apply this gel directly to the ears. You can also do this by using a cotton ball. Repeat two to three times a day for four days to see visible results.
